FreeFlight Systems Enhances the 1203C GNSS/ SBAS Receiver with KASS and SouthPAN Support for Pilots

FreeFlight Systems announces the release of a significant software upgrade for the 1203C SBAS/GNSS Receiver to enhance pilot navigation capabilities. This update includes crucial enhancements to support advanced satellite GPS communication systems, including the Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS) and the Southern Positioning Augmentation Network (SouthPAN). The 1203C software upgrade also addresses evolving requirements, and pilots can anticipate substantial improvements in accuracy and reliability during aviation operations, leading to an overall increase in efficiency.

Equipped with a high-performance 15-channel GPS engine, the 1203C delivers position updates five times per second, ensuring precise navigation across all flight phases. The latest software version expands compatibility with emerging satellite technologies and features a cutting-edge recovery mechanism to counteract active spoofing events. This enhancement significantly boosts safety and reliability for pilots navigating complex environments.

“By incorporating support for KASS and SouthPAN, we are significantly enhancing the navigation capabilities of our GNSS/SBAS Receiver,” said Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at FreeFlight Systems. “These advanced satellite systems empower pilots with enhanced situational awareness and precision, allowing for safer and more efficient navigation in today’s complex airspace.”

The 1203C GNSS/SBAS Receiver adheres to FAA, ICAO, and Eurocontrol regulations and plays a vital role in precision approaches. Its advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) capability ensures uninterrupted navigation, allowing pilots to operate independently of ground-based navigation aids, thereby increasing operational efficiency.

The 1203C is a retrofit solution certified to TSO-C145c and approved to DO-160F and DO-178B Level C, with numerous STCs for various aircraft platforms. The new software upgrade is now available for all existing customers, and installation is available through authorized FreeFlight Systems dealers.
