Aero Vodochody Selects FreeFlight Systems’ RA-4500 Radar Altimeter Systems Onboard L-39NG Trainer Aircraft

IRVING, TEXAS, February 1, 2021 – FreeFlight Systems, today announced that historical Czech Republic-based AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE has selected the Texan aviation technology company to supply its fleet of military trainer and light combat L-39NG aircraft with its robust RA-4500 Radar Altimeters.

FreeFlight, a leader in NextGen applications, has been designing and refining their Radar Altimeter systems to provide extreme altitude accuracy in the world’s most demanding and harshest environments – including at low altitudes from 2,500 feet to 10 feet below ground level. AERO Vodochody’s recent selection is a powerful testament to this technology’s

capabilities, which is a pivotal instrument to ensure exceptionally high military-grade requirements and fleet safety standards are met in challenging conditions.

“We have worked hard to create a Radar Altimeter system that provides the most accurate AG information and pilot control for operational safety,” commented Tim Taylor, CEO & President. “The AERO Vodochody L-39NG is an outstanding military aircraft that is intended to provide enhanced flight training capabilities and we look forward to working with AERO to ensure optimal support of these units.”

AERO Vodochody, one of the oldest aerospace companies worldwide, focuses on the design, manufacturing, maintenance, overhaul, and upgrading of military and civil aircrafts. Its iconic L-39NG (next generation) aircraft continues the tradition of the legendary L-39 Albatros training aircraft (one of the first military aircrafts), certified to the new supranational military standards (EMAR 21 and EMACC) and has also received certification and recognition by the EU and NATO military authorities.

Throughout the last decade, FreeFlight’s solutions have become the growing system of choice amongst many military aircraft providers. Other industries where aviation accuracy is critical such as helicopter and seaplane operations have also relied on FreeFlight’s historical reputation to equip their fleets with its vital safety technologies.
