FreeFlight Systems Improves the 1203C GNSS/ SBAS Receiver with Advanced Spoofing Recovery Features

FreeFlight Systems announces a significant software upgrade for its 1203C SBAS/GNSS Receiver, emphasizing its new capability to recover from active spoofing events. This enhancement is a critical advancement in aviation safety, ensuring pilots can maintain reliable navigation even in compromised environments.

FreeFlight's 1203 GNSS/SBAS Retrofit solutions provides spoofing recovery

To counter occurrences of spoofing events, the 1203C receiver is now equipped with a recovery mechanism that responds to such interferences. This feature enhances situational awareness and provides pilots with the confidence needed to navigate safely through increasingly complex airspace, particularly in regions where spoofing incidents can affect around 38% of European network traffic, impacting major routes from Europe to the Middle East and Asia.

“With the introduction of our spoofing recovery feature, we are taking a proactive approach to aviation safety,” said Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at FreeFlight Systems. “This capability is essential for pilots operating in areas where signal integrity may be at risk, allowing them to trust their navigation systems under challenging conditions. The increase in air traffic control (ATC) and pilot workload due to these threats highlights the need for reliable systems that can mitigate risks and enhance overall aviation safety.”

In addition to spoofing recovery, the latest software upgrade introduces support for new satellite GPS communication systems, including KASS and South Pan. The 1203C’s high-performance 15-channel GPS engine provides position updates five times per second, ensuring precise navigation across all flight phases.

The 1203C GNSS/SBAS Receiver is engineered to meet FAA, ICAO, and Eurocontrol standards, making it crucial for precision approach operations. Its advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) feature ensures uninterrupted navigation capabilities, allowing pilots to operate independently of ground-based systems, which is especially important as reliance on terrestrial systems remains essential in many areas.

The 1203C is a retrofit solution and certified to TSO-C145c and approved to DO-160F and DO-178B Level C, with numerous STCs for a wide variety of platforms. The new software upgrade is now available for all existing customers and can be installed by authorized FreeFlight Systems dealers. For more information, please visit www.freeflightsystems.com/GNSS.
