FreeFlight Systems today announced that Universal Avionics has selected its Dual-Band ADS-B solution for integration with Universal’s Connected Avionics ecosystem and InSight Flight Deck. This strategic partnership brings together two industry leaders to deliver enhanced cockpit connectivity, advanced situational awareness, and streamlined operations for pilots and operators across a wide range of aircraft.
The integration comes at a pivotal time for the industry, as recent congressional mandates are accelerating the adoption of ADS-B IN technology for both airplanes and rotorcraft. These new requirements are designed to improve airspace safety, transparency, and operational efficiency, making advanced cockpit solutions like those from Universal Avionics and FreeFlight Systems more essential than ever.
Aircraft operators equipped with Universal Avionics’ WAAS-enabled FMS can now rely on the FlightPartner Connected FMS app for increased situational awareness and flight planning flexibility using ADS-B IN traffic and weather. It also augments InSight Flight Deck features for embedded synthetic vision, advanced mapping, and electronic charts, all displayed on high-resolution glass cockpit screens.
Dror Yahav, CEO at Universal Avionics, commented, “By partnering with FreeFlight Systems, we’re able to deliver cockpit-based ADS-B In, enhancing safety, and empowering pilots with the tools they need for efficient and confident flight operations.”
“This integration marks a significant step forward in cockpit connectivity and safety,” said Anthony Rios, President, FreeFlight Systems. “It is one of few solutions offered to business aviation and rotorcraft operators that provides cockpit ADS-B IN to pilots, delivering advanced situational awareness and streamlined operations—making every flight safer and more efficient.”
FreeFlight System’s Dual-Band ADS-B solution delivers hybrid surveillance with integrated TCAS II, providing real-time traffic, altitude, heading, speed, and distance of nearby aircraft. Pilots receive a comprehensive, live picture of their environment—reducing mid-air risks and improving routing, fuel efficiency, and weather avoidance. The solution is TSO-certified, compact, and installs easily on both legacy and new aircraft, supporting future-ready compliance and trusted reliability.
